Scout Sunday - 2 Feb

Meaning -

Scouting America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting.

Celebrating Scout Sunday -

Scout units are urged to participate in the religious services. Scout Sunday, Scout Sabbath and Scout Jumuah are important opportunities for units to attend services in uniform, conduct a flag ceremony, speak about Scouting, present religious awards and/or formally thank the chartering organization for their support throughout the year. One can use the opportunity to participate in the service such as offering prayer. Consider having an information table in the foyer or hospitality area to share the good news of how A Scout is Reverent.

Why do we celebrate?

World Scout Day is observed on February 22 every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts movement. The day is also popularly known as the Founder's Day.Feb 22, 2024

Blue and Gold - 8 Feb

Blue and Gold Banquets are a tradition in Cub Scout packs.  They are a celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the BSA on February 8, 1910, and therefore usually take the place of the February pack meeting.  Often, badges of rank are awarded.  The Arrow of Light ceremony may even be included as the 5th graders cross over to a troop.  Sometimes community leaders or special guests are invited to attend.  The meal can be a pot-luck dinner or other arrangements can be made – whatever suits your pack.
